    Bette capitulates

    EXT: BETTE AND TINAS POOL DECK: NIGHT

    (The scene opens with Bette lying in a chaise lounge staring into space. She is holding a wine glass half filled with dark, red wine from which she sips.
    A knocking is heard at the door, but Bette shows no reaction)

    Alice
    (enters through the gate)
    Ive been knocking Porter, werent you planning to answer the door

    Bette
    (turns to look at Alice but makes no response other than to take another sip of wine)

    Alice
    (as she goes to sit on chaise lounge next to Bette)
    Come on, Porter. What the ***** is going on?

    Bette
    I was just trying to enjoy a nice, peaceful glass of wine in my home.

    Alice
    Thats not what Im talking about. Ive talked to Tina

    Bette
    (turns to look at Alice, but takes no remark as she sips more wine)

    Alice
    Whats going on with you, Porter? Its not like you to capitulate

    Bette
    (sips more wine after she finishes speaking. Stares into space while speaking and does not turn to look at Alice)
    Alice, this may come as a total surprise to you, but I dont want to talk about it. If you are here to acquire more lurid details about my personal life, then I am afraid that you will leave disappointed.

    Alice
    Bette, Im here because Im your friend and you are doing something that is totally out of character.

    Bette
    (continues to speak without looking at Alice)
    Maybe you dont know as much about my character as you think you do.

    Alice
    Bette weve been friends for way too many years. I know you way too well and I know that this is something you wouldnt do. You need to talk about this.

    Bette
    No, Alice. I do not need to talk about this. And if someone told you that I did need to talk about it, then you are sadly misinformed. Is there something else you need, Al?

    Alice
    No, I just came over because I was worried about you.

    Bette
    (again does not turn to look at Alice)
    Thank you for your concern, but I can assure you that I am fine.

    Alice
    (stands up)
    I can tell when Im not wanted. If you change your mind, call me.

    Bette
    Bye, Alice

    2. Thanks for the shout out, nouvelle. And thanks for reading my stuff. It’s a difficult task to step into the skins of these characters and make them tell a story, isn’t it? You put forth a good effort on your maiden voyage here. Keep on writing your stories because we will certainly keep on gobbling them up.

    3. I like the way this is written. Bette need to talk to her friends. I know that Alice will tell everything that is said, but Shane want. I really like this.

    4. Wow this is good and Bette is need time to thinking and be alone, and when is time that she ready she will come to her friends and talk and tell them everything that she been keeping inside of her for a while. Please post the next one soon, thank you!
