The girls were huddled together waiting to see how thing were going to go. After checking the board they still were a little unclear about the events. From what they could tell it seemed like one member from each team would compete against the opposite ***** in a variety of challenges.

OKAY PEOPLE LISTEN UPFIRST UP REPRESENTING FORTY LICKSDANA FAIRBANKS VERSUS EMMETT HONEYCUT FROM WE BLOWREPORT TO THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY!

Danas eyes grew wide with anticipation as she heard her name blasted over the speakers that were set up around the field. There were hundreds of people in the stadium and Dana felt a little odd competing in front of all of them. Sure she was used to playing tennis in front of people, but tennis was her game, she wasnt sure if this was.

Alice was hopping around in front of Dana trying to psyche her up. Dana gave Alice an annoyed look as she tried to push by her to get to the field. Alice stopped her by putting her hands on her shoulders and looked her square in the eye. Alice still had the rainbow mouthpiece dangling from her lips and Dana was doing everything she could not to laugh. Alice gave her an annoyed look.

Dana pushed past Alice who gave her a hard pat on the back as she walked by. Dana turned and shot Alice a mean look as she made her way through the crowd to the field. She finally made it after nearly falling flat on her face from tripping on something that probably wasnt there. She gave the announcer an apologetic look and she was met with an amused look from Emmett.

Well well how nice of you to grace us with your presence.

Emmett just smiled at Dana who looked like she wanted to crawl under a rock. The announcer gave them a few last minute rules before handing them over to the referee. The ref took one look at Dana and burst into excitement.

Dana Fairbanks? THE Dana Fairbanks? What a nice surprise

Dana had flashbacks of when she first met Tonya and if this chick was anything like her she wanted to stay far far away. Dana just gave her a cautious smile as Emmett laughed at her apparent discomfort. He leaned in and whispered into her ear.

Dont worry honeyyou keep fighting em off but they just come crawling back every timeon their knees with their mouths wide open

Dana gave him a disgusted look as he laughed and turned his attention back to the ref who was explaining the rules. Their event was an obstacle course set up around the edge of the football field. It would start with a fifty yard sprint up a small incline, then across some rocks that were suspended above a large tank, across a balance beam where wind and water would try and knock them off, over to a tire swing that they would have to use to get across some water, down another incline and finishes off with another fifty yard dash. Dana eyed the course with some nervousness but then a familiar sound brought her back to reality.

COME ON DANAPUT THAT LADY IN HER PLACE

Alice and the gang had come over to watch the event and they were standing right next to the boys from Pittsburgh. Dana shot Emmett an apologetic look again but he just laughed and waived Alices comment off. They were getting suited up with elbow and kneepads and soon Dana found herself standing on the starting line.

A gun went off signaling the start of the race and it caught Dana by surprise. Emmett proved to be pretty fast despite his seemingly lack of athleticism and Dana had to battle to catch him on the sprint. She made up time on the incline however and for once she was glad that she had to do all those uphill workouts with her trainer.

GO GO GO!!!

Alice and Tina were cheering for Dana while Justin and Michael were doing the same for Emmett. Brian was watching the whole thing with some amusement and Bette just watched with apprehension wondering what event she would have. Shane was checking the other contestants out, namely a very hot little number on one of the teams in the 18-25 age group. Shane smiled at her and she smiled back and Shane was sure that she wouldnt go home empty handed after all.

Dana and Emmett both made it up the incline at the same time and when they hit the rocks they were neck and neck. What the referee failed to tell them was that some rocks were solid while others would give out and they would fall into the water below. Poor Dana hadnt taken more than two steps before she felt the ground give out below her and she went crashing down into the water. Emmett saw this and he suddenly became very cautious and managed to make it through without falling. Dana had to get back up and keep going on the rocks and she would fall twice more before finally getting out of the pool.

***** you Al, thought Dana as she pulled herself out of the tank and onto the balance beam. The beam was a little wider than a normal balance beam, but even with that the eight inches across seemed like the tip of a mountain with the wind and water knocking into her. She looked up and saw Emmett almost crawling across the beam and she decided that might be the best thing to do with the wind blowing so strong. She knelt down slowly but surely she put one foot in front of the other and made her way across the beam. It was a slow tactic but it was effective and just when Dana thought things might get out of her control she saw Emmett go crashing down out of the corner of her eye.

Ahhh.

Emmett fell into the tank below them with a loud splash and Dana was so relieved she nearly lost her own grip on the beam and fell in herself. She tried to take advantage of this by moving a little bit faster but when she tried to move too quickly she found herself off balance so she slowed back down to the pace she had been at earlier. Emmett had to wait three seconds before getting back on the beam where he fell off and these were three valuable seconds that Dana made him pay for. She was nearly all the way across the beam when he got back on from where he fell which was just past the halfway mark.

Brian just smirked at Alice as they turned back to the competition. Bette shook her head at their trash talking and she went to sit down next to Tina who was yelling loudly for Dana. Bette just hoped that no matter what Alice could back up all her ***** talking.

Meanwhile back on the field Dana was nearly done with the balance beam and with a couple more quick steps she managed to stand up and run to the tire swing. This tire swing wasnt like any tire swing she had seen before however. Instead of just swinging straight across and landing on the other side, you had to kind of swing your body around to where the platform was and catch yourself on it. Needless to say it required a bit of coordination that Dana wasnt sure she possessed. Emmett had almost caught up to her so with one final glance over her shoulder Dana grabbed the rope and pushed off with all her might.

WOAH WOAH..

Dana felt herself fly through the air at top speed towards the platform which was padded with what looked like a punching bag. She was all ready to jump off and catch herself when she misjudged the distance between her and the platform and she stuck to the bag like a fly on a window.

SMACK

Ughhh.

It took Dana a few seconds to regain her composure and try and keep her balance on the platform. Emmett had managed to judge his distance correctly however and he was just starting to make his way down to the field and start his home stretch.

Alices annoying coaching snapped Dana to attention and she knew that if she lost she would never hear the end of it so she shook her head and jumped down from the six foot platform landing with a thud as her butt hit the pads. She quickly jumped to her feet and started to sprint hoping to catch Emmett. She could hear the theme from Rocky playing in her head as she ran like crazy to the finish line and she could see but not hear her friends all cheering her on to victory.

GO DANAGO DANAALMOSTYEAH!!!!!!!

Dana gave one final push and managed to cross the finish line inches ahead of Emmett. She ran through the ribbon but because she was running so hard it took her a good hundred feet or so to slow herself down.

Alice gave Brian a smug look as she followed the other girls over to Dana who was lying down from exhaustion. Dana had a smile on her face and she was breathing hard but when Alice broke through and jumped on her Danas face went from happy to annoyed.

Dana just raised an eyebrow at Alice as she was helped to her feet by Bette and Tina. Just as they started congratulating her the referee from earlier had made her way over and gave Dana a big smile and put and arm around her shoulder.

Dana looked like she was getting uncomfortable again so Alice decided to step in and save the day. She walked right up to Dana and planted a huge kiss on her lips as she threw her arms around Dana and hugged her tight. The referee watched this with wide eyes and even the other girls were standing there with their mouths open. Brian thought this was hilarious and Emmett, Teddy, Justin and Michael were all speechless at Alices public display of affection. Alice finally broke the kiss and shot the referee a warning look as she pulled Dana away from her.

She pulled a quite confused Dana along as she made her way back to the girls and told them to just start walking before the ref said anything. The other three were quite amused but they did as they were told and when they were finally out of earshot Dana turned and shoved Alice hard.

The three ladies laughed at this exchange and Shane just patted Alice on the back and told her that one day Dana would understand.
