I am Jean Claude, Master of the City, the man spoke. His voice was like fur. Rich and soft and it made Shane want to wrap herself in it. He turned to the woman. I believe you are scaring her ma petite. The womans face relaxed a little and a small smile appeared on her lips.
This is Anita Blake. Shane nodded. Shed heard of her. Anita Blake was the Executioner. When a vampire went rogue and started killing people, she was the one theyd call to execute him.
——————————————————–
Shane looked up into Anitas eyes confused about where she was. She was about to make some smart-***** remark when her eyes suddenly focused on the bloody scene behind her. Before she could stop herself, she threw up on the Executioner.
——————————————————–
Musette is back, he whispered. Shane saw the color drain from Anitas face. She had a feeling this was not good.
——————————————————–
So let me get this straight. Im not dead but still somehow have a power that normally only vampires have. The kind of power with which you can ***** someone to death. And because of this some supervampire is here? Shane summarized. Asher nodded.
——————————————————–
Her tongue flicked out and licked the same spot and she could hear Shane let out a sigh as she wrapped her hand in her hair pulling her closer. She could feel Shanes hand moving down her arms to her hips and finally resting on her ***** pulling her even closer. She was suddenly brought back to the reality of her kitchen when she heard someone behind her scraping his throat. She turned back to see Nathaniel grinning.
She IS cute, he said softly remembering the effect Shane had had on Anita the night before. Anita turned back to him the embarrassment being replaced by anger.
I dont do women! Anita said sharply. Nathaniel shrugged his shoulders and turned around still smiling to set some more coffee.

BLOOD HEIR
Chapter 6 – Unwanted Guests
Alice looked at the pile of print outs in front of her. She had googled the ***** out of her little laptop typing in all kinds of keywords. From vampires to werewolves. From Master of the City to Executioner. From Musette to Belle Morte. Unfortunately the last two had yielded very few results. The others had had quite a few hits and Alice had spent most of the day trying to distinguish fantasy from reality. And now that she had almost worked through the enormous pile her journalistic curiosity was starting to be replaced by worry for her friend. Most of the real information consisted of newspaper articles that didnt prove anything categorically but merely hinted at unsolved crimes and presumed links with the creepy crawlies.
Alice scratched her blonde hair and readjusted her glasses. She picked up the next article from the pile. Dead body found flayed in forest read the headline. Alice frowned at this. For some reason it sounded terribly familiar. Where had she read that before? She started rummaging through the articles in the pile shed already gone through. But when she got to the bottom of the pile she still hadnt found what she was looking for. Alice leaned back in her chair and started tapping her pen against her lips. Her gaze wandered to the glass doors in her office and she was looking at the hustle and bustle outside her office without really registering any of it. Three of her colleagues were gossiping around the water cooler. Probably about their new editor. Shed already been dubbed the wicked witch from the hills.
Marguerite Scowler came from old money and a lot of her colleagues liked to think that that was the reason shed gotten the job. As much as Alice would like to ***** and moan about her new editor who had been on her butt from the moment she walked in, she couldnt in good conscience join in, because she knew it wasnt true. Scowler might be rich, but it were her writing skills that had gotten her where she was now. And even Alice who didnt like people telling her what to write one bit, had to admit that Scowler knew her stuff. Unfortunately she in Alices opinion did not know the stuff Alice was capable of. So she would just have to show her. Shane running into the ethereal elements of town was just the way in she was looking for.
Suddenly it hit her. Todays newspaper. Thats where she had read it. She jumped off her chair and walked to the small sofa where shed dumped her jacket and bag the moment she had walked in. There it was in big bold letters. Three flayed bodies in abandoned building. She walked back to her desk and put the two articles next to each other. Alice tried to find the similarities between the two cases. Obviously the fact that the bodies were flayed, was a major similarity. She wondered if there were other similarities between the crime scenes. Alice quickly googled flayed. Then she tried flaying. A few more combinations and Alice was looking at a total of twenty-three hits. After scrolling through the list Alice had a total of five unsolved crimes. Each involved flayed corpses and in each case the cops had no idea whod done the deed. There had to be a connection. She wondered if the crime scenes were similar too. Too bad there werent any pictures of the bodies. All of a sudden Alice scrunched up her face. Maybe she should be glad there werent any pictures she thought remembering what Shane had said shed done when shed seen them. Shane. Maybe she should talk to Shane.
Funny that was. A few days ago their lives had seem to be pretty uneventful. And now their rock, Bette and Tina, had fallen apart. She and Dana were barely speaking. And Shane was neck deep in vampires, wereleopards, executioners and flayed bodies. Alice sighed. At least their lives werent uneventful. She just wished they were a little less eventful. A smile crept on her face. Well, after she had her story of course.
*****
The silky white fabric slid through Tinas fingers. She couldnt resist and held it up to her nose. The scent brought back powerful memories and Tina could feel the tears welling up again. She sank on the bed and closed her eyes trying to force back the tears. She was not going to cry. She wouldnt give Bette that satisfaction. Shed given up her life for Bette and she couldnt believe Bette could have betrayed her like that. She just didnt understand why. She knew things were difficult between the two of them, but why didnt they discuss it. Why did Bette have to with that woman.
Tina felt that anger come back to replace her grief. She balled up the negligee she had given Bette for her birthday, and threw it across the room. Getting off the bed she turned back to the task at hand packing up her stuff. Seven years of her life packed away in a few suitcases and boxes. It was hard to believe. But it had to be done. It was time to move on. Like Bette had moved on.
Shed nearly finished packing her clothes when she heard the front door open and close. Tina let out a series of curses. Shed hoped to be done and gone by the time Bette got home. She hadnt expected Bette to be back early then her eyes locked on the small clock besides the bed. Bette wasnt early. Tina had just taken more time than shed thought packing up. She stuffed the last of her clothes in the open suitcase and closed it. She picked it up and swung one of the travel bags over her shoulder and walked out of the bedroom. Bette looked up surprised from the mail in her hand when she saw Tina.
Tina, she let out softly. A small smile started to play along her face till she saw the suitcase.
Youre leaving? Tina ignored her and started walking towards the front door. Bette tried grabbing her arm but she just pulled away.
Tina we need to talk, Bette said but she knew it was too late. The anger in Tinas eyes spoke volumes. But she had to try. When Tina came back for the boxes shed left in the living room Bette deliberately blocked her path.
Tina lets talk, she spoke. Tina cringed at the patronizing tone of Bettes voice. She now realized how much shed let Bette take over her life. She used to be a strong independent woman, but somewhere along the line she had turned into the trophy wife.
Theres nothing left to say, Bette, Tina replied sharply.
I didnt mean for it to happen. Please stay, T, Bette said her voice pleading now. Tina shook her head.
What?! Let me guess. You fell in her lap with your face?! You of all people should know that things dont just happen. Isnt that what you always say? You make your own destiny Tina said her eyes glistening with tears. She picked up the two boxes and walked towards the door.
I still love you Tina. Tina stopped at this. She used to love hearing those words. I love you. But they seemed to have lost their meaning now.
I dont love you anymore, Bette, Tina said without turning around wanting to hurt her and she just walked out.
TINA!!! Bette yelled the tears running down her cheeks freely now.
*****
It was nearly midnight when Shane walked into Milk. She let her eyes wander over the crowd spotting Dana and Alice at one of the tables in the corner. They seemed to be in deep conversation. Shane slowly made her way towards the table.
*****
Youre with Tonya and youre getting married. I get that. So lets just forget about what happened, Alice rattled on. She was determined not to let Dana get in a word edgewise, because she wasnt sure she wanted to hear what Dana had to say. When she first saw her, shed had images in her head of Dana falling around her neck saying that she loved her too and that Tonya was history. But no such thing had happened. In fact the first time she saw her after the kiss, Tonya had been with her. So there was no neck falling and no dying declarations of love. And now Alice was determined to put the whole thing behind them before Dana ran over her heart with a steamroller.
How am I supposed to forget about it? Dana let out exasperatedly. For the last half hour shed been trying to talk to Alice about what had happened but every time she even got close to discussing the situation, Alice would cut her off with her insane babbling.
Easy just pretend it NEVER happened, Alice said looking at Dana as if she were dumber than a brick. Dana shook her head vigorously. She was trying very hard not to strangle Alice right now.
Alice you kissed me. THAT happened. As if a switch had been flicked Alice moved from nonchalance to anger.
Well, YOU kissed me back, she replied harshly her face now serious. Dana was dumbfounded for a moment.
Well I I she stammered. Before she could think of the proper response, Shane had appeared at their table.
Hey, she let out her trademark hello before turning around an empty chair and straddling it her eyes sweeping the dance floor as she sat down.
Hows it going? she asked casually resting her look back on her friends. Both Dana and Alice made noncommittal sounds and started staring at their drinks. Shane shrugged. Everyone was acting weird it seemed. She turned her attention back to the dance floor her eyes sweeping the crowd of gyrating sweaty bodies. Her eyes rested on a beautiful blonde girl who was leaning against the bar talking to two other women. Shane let her eyes wander over the girls body wetting her lips. The girl turned around and she locked eyes with Shane. She smiled shyly and averted her eyes. A few seconds later she looked at Shane again. Shane smiled to herself. She knew she had her hooked. The girl said something in her friends ear and started making her way towards the table. The scene looked so familiar. It reminded Shane of that woman she had seen the night before in Guilty Pleasures. Suddenly her smile disappeared. Was she rolling this girl? Before Shane could figure out an answer, the girl was standing in front of her.
Hi, she said twirling a stray strand of blonde hair between her fingers. Shane looked up.
Im not interested, she said abruptly and got up and left. Alice looked at Shanes back in surprise. She exchanged a glance with Dana. This was so unShane The girl looked equally taken aback and she slowly started making her way back to her friends still with a confused look on her face.
What the *****, Alice let out. Dana looked at her and just shrugged and took another sip of her drink.
*****
Shane was making her way through the crowd to the door. She kept her eyes down, because every time she looked up she saw women. Gorgeous women everywhere. And she was damned if she was going to roll one more person. Finally she reached the front door and walking through she felt relieved when she could breathe the fresh crisp air. Suddenly the enormity of it all struck her. Did this mean that her whole life she had been rolling women? Is that why it had been so easy for her to get girls? Shane felt a little nauseous. It felt wrong somehow. Kind of like those sleazebags giving girls Rohypnol to have their way with them. After all, she was kind of influencing them. Only she was using her mind instead of drugs.
Suddenly Shane stopped breathing altogether. Oh my god did this mean she could never pick up a woman again? There had to be a way to turn it off whatever it was or she was never going to have ***** again. She was going to die of sexual frustration. Before Shane could ponder the issue further she felt strong hands wrap around both her arms. Startled she looked at the man and woman on either side of her. The man leaned towards her and whispered in her ear.
Ello darling you dont struggle and we wont hurt you. Shane was about to struggle but she let them willingly lead her to the waiting black sedan when she saw the moonlight glistening off their fangs.

When they locked eyes again, Shane held her gaze. Where are we going?
To see Belle Morte, the latina spoke. The moment the words left her mouth, she slapped her hand against it. Her colleague turned around again more angry this time.
——————————————————–
Then she looked back at the two vampires in front of her and the latina beside her. She guessed it was too late to stay out of things. She was about to meet the bervamp and it seemed there was nothing she could do about it. Or was there?
——————————————————–
Hello, Id like to report a kidnapping, Marina said her voice worried but determined.
——————————————————–
We will have to negotiate with Belle for her freedom, ma petite, Jean Claude finally spoke. Asher placed his hand on his shoulder.
If there is anything left to negotiate for. Anita didnt like the sound of this.
