Bliss From Tragedy – Chapter 10

She told herself it was her sympathy and empathy for Bette and the situation that kept her right there, at least that is what she would tell Eric when she was asked to explain her consistently “ignoring” his calls to her cell phone. She had slipped it on silent while Bette was talking to Mrs. Lee briefly to the side.

Bette had every intention of saying something to Tina as they headed back to Tina’s car. She knew she needed to; that she had to show some sort of thanks for everything this woman had done, for how amazing she handled Bette that seemed to her, almost like instinct. They made it back to the vacant lot as she pulled next to Tina’s car; she put her car in park and turned it off. She mustered her thoughts enough to turn to Tina, only to find her not there

The blonde had slipped out of her seat amidst the brunette’s confusion, she had known that Bette was fighting words to tell her, Tina had just felt the need for air at that moment. When it seemed Bette had measured the situation, she rounded to the hood of her car where the dazzling blonde was leaning.

“These past few days have been crazy” Bette started in. Tina seemed to snap out of her daze as she turned her face towards Bette’s voice. “I have been trying to wrap my head around everything and I just can’t do it.”

“I bet, this has got to be so hard for you,” Tina countered, turning her body to match her face’s gaze at Bette.

“Yes, but that isn’t entirely what I mean,” she had countered. ” Rachel’s death was shocking enough and completely sad, she was so full and had so much in front of her to do. I am sad she couldn’t come to me, or that I didn’t really make myself as available as I should. I sat down and thought about it the other night, you know, how many times I was too busy to take calls, or just didn’t check up when I should have.”

“It’s not your fault, you couldn’t have known this would have happened, you can’t go blaming yourself,” Tina offered to a mourning Bette.
