    Chapter Five

     

    “Is this really a good combination: pizza and wine?” Alice took a drink from her glass.

    “You ate twice slices already, so I say yes,” Bette smiled and took a bite from her slice. Tina walked back into the living room and sat next to Bette on the couch. Bette looked over at Tina. “How’s Angel?”

    “She’s fine; I just finished feeding her and putting her back to sleep.” Tina sighed and grabbed a slice of pizza. “So Alice,” Alice looked up. “Have you heard from Tasha at all?”

    Alice moaned. “Only once, and it was only for ten minutes. I hate this war, it’s pointless. I’m so happy that this is Bush’s last term—I hope he rots in hell.” Tina smiled and took a bite of her pizza. “So ladies—who are we voting for?”

    “Barrack Obama—I think we need a black president.” Bette took a drink from her glass.

    “I’m going for Clinton—hopefully it’ll be like having Bill in the office, but just a woman and no occasional BJs under the desk.” Shane took a drink of her beer, and the girls laughed.

    “I’m saying John Edwards—he seems like he’ll put our country in order.” Tina nodded. “What about you Al? Who will you vote for?”

    “I’m going for Rudy Giuliani—he did his best with the 9/11 situation, and I think he’ll be a great president.”

    “How did we get on this subject?” Shane smiled.

    “We were talking about Alice and her relationship with Tasha.” Tina grabbed her glass off the table. “So how’s the Paige situation?”

    Shane sighed as she crossed her legs. “I don’t know—we finally found a place, but she doesn’t know if she wants to move because of Jared’s issue.”

    “What would that be?” Bette sat back on the couch.

    “He doesn’t like the fact that Paige is gay and doesn’t want us together.” Shane finished the suds of her beer. “I really want this to work out.”

    “Well has Paige talked to Jared about this?” Bette asked.

    “She’s tried, but he just ignores her.”

    “What about Shay? Did he have a problem with you being gay?” Tina put the last piece of pizza in her mouth.

    9. tina’s boss is a dick. i think he’s suffering from PMS. he seems to threaten to fire her quite a lot. i wonder what would he do if she said fine i quit. he seems like the type who would make her getting a new job as difficult as possible.
