Previously… 

Just then a weary looking Bette stepped into the waiting room.  Alice and Dana leapt up off their chairs, and Shane quickly walked over.

“So…. Tell me? How perfect is he?” Alice said standing in front of Bette.

“Well…” Bette began.

“Come on Porter, spit it out.” Alice said her hands on Bette’s arms.

“He’s wonderful” She finally managed to say a tear sliding down her cheek, a huge smile across her face.

The three girls cheered and pulled Bette into a great big hug, jumping around like silly little school girls.

“And his sister is beautiful” Bette added into the cheering group hug causing all the ladies to stop suddenly.

“His what?” Alice asked stepping back for a minute to look at Bette.

“Yeah, what was that Bette?” Dana added.

“His sister. His sister is just as wonderful” Bette said smiling even wider.

“How? What? Huh?” Alice stumbled.

“You mean there are two babies?” Shane managed to ask.  

Dana merely stood there with her mouth open.

Bette couldn’t help but let out a laugh watching the girls take in the information which was just as much as a shock to her.

“Hang on, how can there be two of them?” Shane continued.

“I know, it’s hard to swallow, but it seems that she was hiding behind her brother the whole time” Bette chuckled.

“Wait, what about all the ultra sounds and baby monitoring and stuff. Surely they would have heard another heart beat, or at least seen another head bobbing around at some point” Alice asked rather dumbfounded.

Bette could only laugh harder. She practically fell to the floor when the doctors said there was still one more baby to come. She could barely get out an audible word when they lifted her baby girl up to her.  “The doctors said that sometimes these things happen. It’s extremely rare, but does happen. She is pretty tiny compared to her brother, so the doctors believe that can explain why her heartbeat wasn’t picked up and the way she was positioned behind her brother explains why she wasn’t seen on the ultra sound.”

“Wait is she okay then?” Dana asked.

“Yes, she’s fine. Very small, but the doctors say she is healthy, and in no time flat will catch up to her brother in weight.”
