    A quiet night in

Car horns and ambulance sirens, screamed through the closed windows of Bette and Tina’s house. They lay on the couch, peaceful. One simple side lamp lightened the room. Yet it was the darkness that made the everything seem right. The moonlight streaked through their kitchen window as they just lay there, doing nothing, but taking in each others company. The small blower heater on Bettes feet. With Tina’s head in her lap. Bette quietly played with a strand of her hair, smiling as she did so. Tina with her eye’s closed, lying contently in Bette’s lap. Feeling the ever-growing warmth and love that she had for her partner.
It was a Friday night. They decided to have a quiet one after there enormously busy week that they had. They where happy in what they were doing. Just sitting, feeling the love through the invisible vibes, that were extracted from there bodies, invisible.
Bette started to hum quietly, one of her many jazz favourites. The song just seemed right for that night. It reminded Bette of where she lived, whom she loved and what a great relationship she had with all her family and friends. She rested her head on the back of the couch, not saying a word. She stopped playing with Tina’s hair just for a moment and took in the sounds and smells that surrounded her. The gentle breathing her body did, the warmth of Tina’s head on her lap and the silkiness of her hair between her fingers. It was right. Just the two of them, together. One couch. One lamp. One moon, one window and Bettes humming.
The heat that was on Bette’s feet made her sleepy, she dozed off for a little while, but awoke just in time to see Tina gently brushing lips with her own. Bette sighed into the kiss.
“Can we stay like this forever?” Tina questioned.
“I think we can. Bette smiled.
Tina gently laid her head back in Bette’s lap, the heater still on, making the house warm as toast. Bette proceeded to start humming as she glided her hand through Tina’s hair once again. Tina grabbed Bette’s other hand and entwined there fingers together.
Bette looked out the Kitchen window to find raindrops sliding down. She smiled once again at the calmness of the night. She loved the rain. The delicate water droplets that fell from the heavens. How sometimes the rain can make the impossible problems go away for just a moment, even in the seconds that she forgot about it and looked at the rain, made her day’s bearable at the CAC. She loved coming home and walking up the garden path as it was raining. Seeing the glistening rose petals. There real colour showing through. Even though if she looked above her, the clouds where dark and mysterious.
“Bette.” She was startled back into reality.
“Bette are you okay?” Tina asked with a concerned look on her face.
Bette smiled at her lover. “Yeah everythings perfect.” Tina replied with a smile, there hands still clasped together.
They lay there together. There hearts beating at the same time, their warmth and presence made everything happy and peaceful.

“T, Dance with me?” Bette asked as she bent over and kissed Tina’s cheek.
Tina giggled, “Why, I thought you’d never ask.”
She let go of Bette’s hand and got off the couch. She turned down the heater and pushed it to the side as well as the coffee table.
Bette had purchased a new white fur rug, to go into the living room. She had also got a new jazz CD that she wanted to try out. She had totally forgotten about it until now.
“Wait just a sec babe, I’ll be back in a minute.”
Before Tina could disagree Bette was already halfway down the hall, heading towards the bedroom.
She came back minutes later with the CD in her mouth and the rug in her arms. Tina grabbed the CD and looked at the cover. Her eye’s content and amazed as she read it.
“Another Jazz CD huh?” Tina giggled.
Bette pulled the masking tape off the ends of the rug and unravelled it, placing it in the centre of the couches.
“Are you paying out my style of music Ms Kennard?” Bette had a smirk on her face.
Tina looked at Bette straight in the eye. “Maybe…But what are you going to do about it?”
“I’m going to pretend that I didn’t make that assumption and you didn’t ask that question.” Bette got on her knees and smoothed out the rug that was under her.
“There nice and comfy.” She patted the space beside her for Tina to sit.
“I thought we were going to dance?” Tina’s hand was outstretched to Bette, motioning her to get up off the floor.
“As long as we can dance to MY music.” Bette stated.
“Well you can’t really slow dance to the music that I like.” Tina giggled
Bette slowly got off the floor, groaning as a twinge of pain ran up her spine.
“I think I’m getting old.” Grasping her back in hopes that the pain would go away.
Tina giggled as she walked over to the sound system. She bent down and gently placed the CD in the compartment, then she hit the play button.
“Which song do you want on babe?” She turned to see Bette right behind her, grasping both butt cheeks in each hand. She then leaned over and whispered into Tina’s ear
‘Number three babe.” Her voice was as cold as ice. Tina could feel a shiver run up her spine. She pushed the skip button to get to the right song. Les McCanns Bill Evans floated softly and sweetly out of the speakers as Tina and Bette got into their right positions to dance.
Tina with one hand on Bette’s shoulder and the other clasped to her lovers hand. Bette’s hand creeped down and sat on Tina’s waist, while the other was in Tina’s hand
They slowly started to dance around in a circle on their new rug. Bette quietly humming to the tune, closing her eye’s as she swiftly guided Tina around. The wind in her hair as she glided around the lounge room made her so happy. She was right where she want to be and that was at home in Tina’s arms, in her love.
Bette opened her eyes and saw Tina, her face looked confused.
“What is…Something in my nose…or teeth?” Bette looked horrified.
“No. Nothing like that baby…I’m just wondering why you are so attached to this music? Why it brings out another side of you, that I dont get to see very often… The relaxed side.”
Bette smiled at Tina’s question and then pecked her on the lips. “I don’t know babe…When I listen to the sounds…the rhythm and the beat…The way the music runs through my body…It feels like time has stopped for a moment…Just for me…I visualise such beautiful things…places, people…You.” Her voice almost a whisper. “The way I cherish you and love you. The way you do the same for me. The way you hold me, giggle at my stupidity, watch me from afar…But most of all.. Love me.” She closed her eyes once again as they danced.
Tina was in shock…She never knew how deeply Bette felt for her music and what it reminded her off…No wonder she’s so relaxed after listening to jazz. She thought to herself.

The music stopped, going to another song. Bette opened her eyes to meet Tina’s dead on. Tina pulled Bette closer. Her hips grinding into her partners. Bette let out a small quiet gasp. One that Tina only just heard. A small smile creeping over Bette’s face, as she laughed.

“Oh really…Hold onto that thought.” Tina let go of her for a second, so Bette could grab the remote for the CD player and hit repeat.

She got back to Tina’s eye level and started to slow dance again. Closer this time. Bette’s arms wrapped around Tina’s waist, while hers were around Bette’s neck. There noses inches apart. Forehead to forehead. Heart to heart. There hips rock from side to side slowly.

The rhythm played, as there bodies got warmer with passion as well as the little blower heater going. Tina’s cheeks where red…not only by heat, by the anticipation of what was going to happen next. I mean honestly, who just goes out and buy’s a new fur rug? She thought to herself.

Swiftly Bette moved her hand up to the middle of Tina’s back and dipped her low. Tina, who was still holding onto Bette’s neck, was a little nervous that Bette couldn’t hold her weight.
    Then it happened.

While Bette dipped Tina, she pressed her cold, moist wet lips onto Tina’s neck. Tina held on tight to Bette, not wanting Bette’s lips to part from her warm skin. It was always funny, even though it was so hot in their house; Bette’s lips were always cold in the winter.

Unawares to Tina, Bette was holding her body with one arm, while the other slowly undid Tina’s shirt, exposing her warm milky flesh to Bette’s hungry eyes and lips.

“Bette.” All Tina could do was whisper.
An “mmmhhhmmm” was mumbled into Tina’s chest.
“Bette I don’t think I can stand anymore.” By this time Tina’s eyes where closed. Bette’s lips where so passionate on her skin…She could feel the lust build within her.

Ever so slowly Bette laid her lover on the new, virgin, exquisite white rug they laid underneath there warm bodies.

Bette started her slow kissing once again. Taking in every part, every piece of skin, every goose bump, that were now starting to form on Tina’s angelic body. A sigh passed Tinas lips as she felt Bettes kisses get lower and lower. The sweet aroma of Bettes sticky lip-gloss was now virtually planted all over her body.

“Bette.” Tina could hardly get the words out…

    1. I think I need a new white fur rug to go with my Jazz collections. Maybe that would help me get into that special place that this story has, wonderful.
