    “Ready as I’ll ever be”

     Chapter Three: Ready as I’ll ever be..

     

    The cool breeze of the AC sent chills down Spencer’s spine. The tears slowly flowing down still, she sat on her bed. Charlee handed her a box of tissues and sat across from her, wiping a tear from her face with her thumb. A slight smile came across Spencer’s face, allowing Charlee to breath a sigh of relief.

    “Gosh I’m so embarrassed”, Spencer sniffled, “What would I do if you weren’t here”

    “Well, first off you’d still be on that bathroom floor”, Charlee replied, hoping to get another grin from Spencer. “Spence it’s not a big deal, it’s what friends are for.”

    Spencer allowed another smile to come out, “Well you don’t know how much I really appreciate it. Even after a year, I’m still a mess.”

    Charlee smiled at Spencer. Realizing that in a few days it would mark a year since Ashley had left, she knew she had to be strong for Spencer, and try to keep her busy. “Well I’d better go take a shower and start getting ready”. It was now 5:30, so she still had enough time to be leisurely. “Are you going to be alright?”

    Wiping her tears, “Yeah I’ll be fine, thanks”. As soon as Charlee left, Spencer started getting ready for the night. Opening up her drawer, she found a picture of her Ashley. Candid, the picture was taken in the club they normally went to. Like always they were in their own world, not realizing friends were sitting across from them, practically gagging at the adorable sight. Foreheads rested together, Ashley’s nose scrunched up, Spencer’s eyes closed. Aiden couldn’t help but capture this Kodak moment, this was one of Spencer’s favorite pictures, as well as Ashley’s.

    Spencer’s grin could not get any wider. This has to be the best day of my life!! The blonde beauty hurried back to her dorm with excitement, hoping that she’d catch Ashley before she left for class. It was only 11:55, and she would probably make it back in 5 minutes meaning that left her 10 whole minutes with her favorite Ashley! She practically ran back to her dorm building, being stopped by, again, the lock on her door. Realizing that it was in fact locked, her excitement came to a slow, when she realized, Ashley was not there.

    4. I just read your first 3 chapters and I really like it. Its an original idea. Your writting flows, and the transition from past to present is pretty smooth. I can’t wait to find out why Ash left.

    6. I just read all of your chapters and I must say it is a really good story so far. You put some very nice details in the writing….and this whole Ash missing mystery is very intriguing. I must say I was disappointed to find that there wasn’t another chapter b/c you said we’d start finding out what happened in the next. Oh well, you need to post that chapter real soon!!!
