    An Unexpected Love

Spencer was watching TV in Ashley’s room when Ashley walked into her room with two bowls of ice cream.  “I thought we could use some pizza so I placed an order,” Ashley began.  It should be on its way soon, but in the meantime we could have dessert before dinner. I got you your favorite, cookies and cream.

“Coolness, it’s a perfect combination,” said Spencer as Ashley handed her the bowl of ice cream.  Thanks, Ash.  I could use a different routine every now and then.  Ashley lied down next to Spencer.

“How are you feeling?” Ashley asked with concern.

“I’m doing better,” answered Spencer.  I….I’m sorry that I’m just crashing here and being a moocher.  The thing is that I couldn’t stay there.  When my Mom returned from work, she would’ve accused me for my Dad taking off again and it gets tiring to get blamed after awhile.

“You don’t need to be sorry,” Ashley stated.  You’re welcome to crash here any time and you’re not a moocher.  Why would she blame you for your Dad leaving?  Glen was the one who kicked him out to begin with since the bastard went too far.  You didn’t do anything wrong, Spence.  You guys are better off without him anyway.

“It still won’t stop her from blaming me,” replied Spencer with a sigh.

“Your Mom has some serious problems,” Ashley commented.  If it makes you feel any better, I’ll be your eyewitness and defend you.  Spencer chuckled.

“Luckily, I’m somewhat normal if you see who my parents are,” joked Spencer.  I just hope that I don’t wind up like them, especially like him. Ashley caressed Spencer’s cheek.

“You’re not like them at all,” Ashley pointed out.  You are your own person, Spence and for that I will always be grateful for that.  For the record you will never be like him.  A smile formed on Spencer’s lips.

    “Thanks,” said Spencer.

“No problem, I’m only speaking the truth,” Ashley replied returning the smile.  We should eat the ice cream before it melts and becomes milk.  Spencer chuckled.  Ashley and Spencer ate their ice cream.

“Do you know that I have not eaten a slice of pizza since I lived in Ohio?” began Spencer.
