I shut my car door, walked forward, and stepped onto the sidewalk but quickly stepped back when a kid on a skateboard nearly ran me over, “Ugh!” I will never get used to that whether it is a common occurrence or not. I sighed and once again stepped up but this time checked both ways before proceeding to the quad and over to my friends, “Hey guys.”
Madison didn’t even glance at me as she unenthusiastically replied, “Hey.”
I sat down next her and followed her line of sight to see that she was staring at a small group of skateboarders. Unlike most schools, the popular people here did not shun the skateboarders. One very smart cheerleader once pointed out that skateboarding was a sport at the same moment as one of the skateboarders removed his shirt to reveal his six pack and thus it was deemed acceptable to openly ogle them.
”Jeremy is so hot.”
I rolled my eyes and just sat there silently. I didn’t really understand what they saw in the guys here. The guys here are nothing special. I don’t care what social group they are in.
”Who the fuck is that?!”
I craned my attention back in to see someone was talking to ‘hot Jeremy’ and it obviously displeased Madison. I wasn’t sure who it was because their back was to me but they were obviously short since Jeremy loomed over them.
”That’s Ashley Davies.” I glanced over my shoulder to see Aiden Dennison looking over with us before looking back over at the small group.
”Who the fuck does that whore think she is getting all over my man?”
I sighed as Aiden responded, “His friend, I assume.”
”Shut up, Aiden. You don’t know anything.”
”I know for a fact that Jeremy is 100% gay.”
Madison spun around at mach speed, “How dare you say he is-is-is GAY!” I glanced at her and could tell that she was furious.
Aiden shrugged and held up his hands, “Just telling you the truth.”
”It is not the truth.”
”Whatever, I’m goin’, later.” He took off without waiting for a reply, a few of his friends going with him.
