The Grown Up Years – (Chapter: Chapter 2: Paula You Suck)

I was going to commit suicide if I didn’t get out of here soon. Spencer and I were at our realtor’s office signing the papers for our house. I thought that this would be an exciting process, but boy was I wrong. We had been here almost an hour, but it seemed like a week and the only thing we did was sign papers.

“Alright, this is the exciting part,” said our realtor.

“Sure it is,” I said as I rolled my eyes.

I felt Spencer lightly slap my leg signaling me to shut up. I gave her an apologetic look and turned back to the realtor. She reached down and picked something up below the table. As she came back into view she had the fakest smile I’d ever seen.

“I am happy to pronounce you HOME OWNERS,” she said as she with fake sarcasm as she handed us the keys.

I sat there stunned for a minute not sure what to think or say. I was in total shock. I owned a house. It wasn’t my mom’s house or Spencer’s parents house, but it was OUR house.

Spencer was just finishing up leaving her parents a voicemail letting them know that we had signed all the papers and the house was ours. They like to feel like they’re involved in our lifes.

As we walked back into our apartment Spencer turned around to face me with a big cheesy grin and said, “I have a surprise for you.”

I honestly had no idea what it was or what it could be. We just bought I house for over 2 million dollars. What else could we possibly spend money on?  As I walked into the living room I saw my surprise. There in the middle of the room was a California King sized Tempur-Pedic mattress.  I was in fact surprised. I always wanted one, but never thought to actually go out and buy one.

“Since we’re gonna be moving into our new house next week I thought we could use a new bed, unfortunately it got here a little earlier than I thought it would,” said Spencer a little disappointed.

“Don’t worry about it baby. I’m more interested in putting this mattress to good use,” I said as I gave her my signature Ashley Davies smirk.
