Aiden and Glen were on their way to The Regal Nursing Home where Aiden’s  great great grandfather resided. 

“How far did you say the nursing home was?”

“It’s a three hour drive in good traffic, which we seem not to be having today.  It’s a Sunday why is there so much traffic?” Aiden whined.

“We’ll get there Aiden your great great grandfather isn’t going anywhere.”  They rode in silence listening to Simply Red’s, Holding Back the Years until Glen chimed in over the music.  “So… I talked to my sister the other day,” he said.  “She sounded tired.  Have you seen her?”

“Yes and not only does she sound tired she looks tired.” 

“So what’s going on with her?” 

“I really don’t know Glen.  She hasn’t talked to me nor has she introduced me to the person she’s been seeing.  Martha did tell me she saw something strange one evening about a week ago.” 

“Strange like what?”

“She said she saw who she assumed was Spencer’s date hunched over her while she laid quietly on the couch and when she raised her head up away from Spencer, blood was dripping from her mouth and chin.”

“What?!  You can’t be serious?”

 “Martha was very serious when she told me.”

“Are you sure Martha didn’t have a bad dream?  Or maybe she had been sleepwalking and thought she saw Spencer with a woman… with blood on her chin,” Glen repeated snickering.

 “I trust Martha’s instincts.  If she said she saw something strange, then it’s up to me to check to see if it’s true or not.  So I did just that.  I went up to Spencer’s bedroom to see Spencer for myself.”

“And?”

“She was fine as far as I could tell.” 

Shaking his head, “what were you looking for Aiden… bite marks on her neck?”

Aiden remained quiet.  “Your silence tells me that’s exactly what you were looking for.  I think you and Martha have been watching too many episodes of True Blood on cable.”

“Ha,ha Glen, keep denying the truth all you want but vampires do exist.  Just ask my great great grandfather.  Anyway the only thing I noticed different about Spencer was that she’s lost some weight.  Martha says she’s not eating much and she doesn’t return home from her dates until morning.”
