The Best Year of Our lives – (Chapter: Chapter 4: It’s not over)

You know the feeling when it seems like everyone is staring at you? The little hairs on the back of your neck stand up, and as you turn around, they look down; trying to act like nothing went on.

That’s how I felt today. When Ashley picked me up this morning, I felt great. The second she put her car in park, I felt like shit. I had been out of the car for like two seconds, and I could feel all of King High’s eyes on me and Ashley. We decided it would be best if we didn’t show any P.D.A. today, for Carmen and Aiden’s sake. Even though we weren’t holding hands, Aiden got off his motorcycle glaring at us. Not only did he seem mad, but I could feel his eyes travel up and down Ashley’s body, checking her out. What a fucking pathetic horndog…

I heard another car door slam behind me, and saw Carmen stepping out of her car, looking really pissed. I told Ashley that I’d see her later, and we went our separate ways.

“Hey Carm-.” Before I could say another word, her hand hit my face, slapping me.

“How could you Spence?” She asked angrily. “You blew me off all weekend for her?” I felt horrible. Tears streamed down Carmen’s face, smudging her make-up. I loved Ashley, but I still had feelings for Carmen. She helped me through one of the most difficult times of my life, when Ashley was not there for me. “Just tell me one thing. Did you fuck her?”

I couldn’t bring myself to say yes. It would break Carmen’s heart, and I definitely didn’t want to do that. “No, I didn’t.” I lied. “She came over to talk. She wants to be more, but I just want to be friends with her.” My eyes glanced over to Aiden, and to my shock, saw Ashley giving him a big hug. What. The. Fuck. Now, I would definitely not break up with Carmen, if she was with that douche again. “Carmen, I’m so sorry.” I said, grabbing her hand. “I wanted nothing more than to spend the weekend with you. Will you forgive me?” I asked, giving her my puppy dog face that no girl could resist.

“God, Spencer. Why do you have to be so cute?” Anger was replaced by a big smile crossing her face.

    “So you’ll forgive me?”

“Of course.” She said, giving me a kiss on the cheek. I know it was wrong, but I glanced over to Ashley, who was glaring at me. She saw the kiss Carmen gave me, and grabbed the back of Aiden’s head, kissing him. What the fuck was this? A competition? God damn it Ashley. Carmen saw the anger in my face, and followed my gaze. “I’m sorry about Ashley. She shouldn’t have asked for you back if she was going to screw around with Aiden.”

“It’s ok Carmen. I’m used to it now.” Actually I wasn’t. Why did she have to be back with him? Even if they were “just friends”, Aiden would constantly try to put the moves on her. I felt so bad now about blowing Carmen off to fuck Ashley. She was probably going to screw Aiden tonight anyways. I felt my eyes tearing up and quickly brushed them away.

You will not screw with me Ashley Davies.

    This is war.
