Tell Me Where it Hurts – (Chapter: Ch. 1)

    Spencer’s POV

I got off of the plane and looked around for my grandma, she said she would be waiting here at the airport for me at 5:00. I look at the time on the clock on the pale-blue wall of the lobby, sure enough, it’s 5:15, and there are no signs of grandma…Joan, i think it was. I can’t remember, everything’s been a blur since the fire. I’ve felt surreal, I don’t know if it’s been three days, three weeks, or even three years. I don’t know and I don’t really care. The only thing that I can remember is that it was all my fault.

"Spencer? Spencer!" My grandma called to me. She came running up and gave me a hug. When she pulled away she kept her hands on my arms and looked me over. "Oh, God, you’ve gotten so big since I last saw you. I remember when you used to come over all the time before I moved overseas. You were always playing with your little Barbies. Aw, it was so cute how you always made Barbie get a divorce from Ken and she ran away with Stacey in their hot pink convertable."

I blushed at that memory, grandma always knew that I was gay, and that was probably the first sign that I showed. What? Don’t look at me like that, Barbie was too hot for Doctor Ken, and Stacey was too hot for her boyfriend, surfer Ken. So they ran away to Canada together. Don’t tell me you’ve never done that!

"C’mon, c’mon, hurry up, we’ve got no time to waste. I’ve got lunch for us at home." Grandma said as she rushed me to her car. For a small woman, just over 5 feet, grandma could outwalk anybody. We got to her car and I went around to the right side of the car. Grandma looked at me amused. "Do you plan on driving?" She asked me while holding out her keys. Duh. I smacked myself in the head and reminded me that I wasn’t in the U.S. anymore. We drive on the opposite side. But I’m 16, I have my driver’s liscence. "Can I drive?" I asked her. She tossed me the keys, I caught them and got in.
