    I just wanted everything to go back to the way it was before, but before what?

     

    I stared out the back sliding door of my studio looking blankly at the trees past my grandma’s patio.  Fall had fully set in.  The leaves were changing and falling.  Cooler temperatures had set in.  Fall in California was ok…I missed the falls at home.  There were so many colors and the mornings were crisp and cold.  Right about now I wish that is where I was….home.

     

    I took a deep breath.  I was kind of nervous about today.  I spent the past week skating around Jena.  Kaylen and I had decided that we needed to get through the rest of our midterms before we all sat down and got past all this tension that was between us.  I had agreed to meet Kaylen and Jena at their apartment this afternoon and just the thought of all the things I wanted to ask made my insides churn.

     

    I jumped slightly as a pair of arms gently wrapped around me from behind.

     

    “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” Ashley said gently.  “You are a million miles away from here…you thinking about tonight?”

     

    I nodded as wrapped my hands over hers and leaned back in her embrace.

     

    “I am just not looking forward to dredging up all those things that happened so long ago.  I would love to just leave it alone.” I said

     

    “Yeah, but you and Kaylen have been walking on eggshells around each other and I know you both just want to get back to how it used to be.  I think it would be good for all of you to just get out all that drama you missed on a year ago and then let it go.” Ashley said squeezing me tight. 

     

    It was such a relief that Ashley was being so understanding.  It relaxed me a bit.

     

    “I am going to get going ok?” Ashley said. “Aiden and I are going to catch up while you ladies hash it out.”

     

    “That sounds good.  I will give you a call when I get back home.”  I said turning in her arms to give her a kiss good-bye.

     

    “Ok. Call me if you need anything.  I mean anything…you know like moral support or for me to smack down the ex in true Davies fashion.” She said with a sly smile.

    1. Okay, I’m coming out of lurkerdom to say: NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO! You can not leave it there. I have missed this story so much and this cliffhanger is pretty much killing. Jena had her chance and lost it. That’s her own fault. It’s Ashley and Spencer’s turn now. Please let Spencer choose Ashley!!
