Ashely stood before Spencer and Aiden with her dark brown eyes displaying the pain and confusion that she felnt.  All she wanted to do was tell Spencer how she meant everything to her, how without her Ashley’s world was nothing.  She loved Aiden but she was not   in love   with Aiden.  Hesitating for a split second deciding how she would proclaim these feelings without hurting either of them, she heard…

Gun!!!!!!

Before King High had time comprehend the warning, shots rang through the air.

As everyone’s knees began to buckle as they spilled to the ground for cover, Ashley did the only thing she would do a million times again… she dove, taking Spencer down to cover her. 

The shots all happened so fast that slience fell over the shaken, grass stained teenagers for what seemes like hours.  In reality, it was only a few seconds before screams and cries starting erupting throughtout the courtyard. 

Ashley was lying face down on top of Spencer who was laying face up at the sky.  Clay and Chelsea were laying on their sides facing each other in an embrace.  Kyla and Aiden both started to emerge from protective curled up postions on the grass side by side. 

“Oh my god, Clay, are you ok?” Chelsea cried while hoding onto Clay’s warm embrace.

“Its ok baby, I… I.. I think I’m ok… are you?  Are you hurt anywhere? Are you bleeding? Chelsea are you….”

“Clay…shhh, I’m ok too… Kyla, Aiden!” Chelsea yelled to the two people closest her upon realizing that her and Clay were ok.

“Chelsea, Clay! We’re ok, are you guys ok, What happe…..OMG Ashley! Spencer!” Kyla screamed out.

The group looked over to find a panik sticken and shocked Spencer who was just now coming to the realization of what had happened while she laid underneath Ashley. 

Spencer blinked a few times snapping out of her daze.  Realizing the weight on top of her, she looked down, slightly in shock to see Ashley covering Spencer’s with her body.  Spencer moved her arms out from under the brunette and slightly nudged her.

“Ash” spencer croaked out in a horse voice. 

No reaction.  Spencer figured Ashley was still in shock too and may have needed a few seconds to respond.
