    Something Clever – (Chapter: Sushi)

I woke up the next morning, I guess afternoon, with mixed emotions. On one hand I was seeing my best friend. On the other, I was seeing my best friend. I wanted to see her but I didn’t. Sorry if I’m confusing you but I am SO indecisive. Maybe I would want to go out with her tonight if I knew things were really going to be like old times. I want to laugh with her, joke with her, be an idiot around her but not have to worry about what she’s thinking because I know that two seconds later she’ll be doing the same thing. But she’s different now. She’s changed too much. She lives her life pleasing people and trying to be someone she’s not.

I waste the day doing nothing. Blasting music, wrestling with my sister Kyla, texting everyone and no one, you know, the usual boring day; all the while thinking of Spencer. I had to occupy myself because if I even had a minute alone she was the first thing I thought of. When five o’clock rolled around I was too eager to get ready. I had to look hot. I don’t care if she knows that I’m madly in love with her and tells the world that I do, at least I’ll be looking good when she shoves the sticky rice in my face. I start giggling to myself, I know that’s not true and that’s not how I want the night to go but honestly, I always have to look hot.

An hour and a half later and my master piece was done. Looking fine as always. Now with a half an hour to kill and knowing her, Spencer will be late. I lay on my bed, careful not to mess up my hair, and put my ipod on the dock, turn it up as loud as my ears can take and wait for my sister to come in and yell at me. I lay my phone on my stomach, anticipating her call, and close my eyes letting the music wash over me. My phone rings at 7:03. It’s her. I tell her I’ll be out in a minute and rush out to her car.
