Sliding Doors – (Chapter: Chapter 34 The Third Law)

    November 27, 2009 2:58 am EST

I didn’t go into their room right away. I just paced outside, a mile a minute, while I waited for the right words to come to me.

How much did she know? Was she testing me? Did she think it was a faze?

When I was thirteen I had a brief period of rebelliousness. I came home from sleepover with my hair dyed pink. I couldn’t wait to piss off my mom, just for even a second, because I was so tired of always being ‘the good little girl.’

But much to my disappointment, she smiled a little at the change and said it complimented my eyes. I found out later that she just said that so that I wouldn’t keep rebelling; if she acted like what I did wasn’t a big deal than I would stop doing stupid stuff like dying my hair “passion pink.”

Was she doing the same thing now?

I took a deep breath and knocked softly on my parents’ bedroom door. I heard my father’s soft snores and didn’t want to wake him. There was no answer in response to my knock so I hesitantly turned the knob and made my way into the darkness.

I couldn’t tell if my mom was awake or not as I made my way over to their bed, but half of me hoped she was and the other half hoped she had suddenly received a lobotomy.

Her chest rose and fell steadily but I could tell something was wrong. Her feet kicked at the covers, her head jerked slightly, and her closed eyes looked screwed up in concentration even in her sleep. I wonder what she’s dreaming about.

Paula: “Hannah…Hannah…” Ooooookay, I wonder who she’s dreaming about. Who the hell is Hannah?! OH maybe my mom had some crazy college love affair with a woman named Hannah and that’s why she’s okay with me being gay! Ew, God I hope not.

I sigh deeply and leave the room shutting the door softly behind me. I guess I’ll talk to her tomorrow after she gets home from work. I head back into my bedroom to see Ashley fast asleep. The soft light from my night table is still on and I see her stirring, but not in a good way.

    1. oh my my I love this story!!! What will these three do to save Spencer. How many times did Paula wish for her daughter not to be Gay? When do they let Spence in on the truth? Plus please post a new MD soon I need more New Years action.

    2. Whoa, that was a complete turn around. I thought this was going to be like a happy update where Paula accepts Spencer, but instead I ended up almost crying, lol. However, it was still a great update! Post more now, I’m serious.

    3. hell yea paula! no better way to calm yourself than taking a few hits. anyway wow that’s some serious shit going on here, I would say the obvious thing is to not get spence pregnant, but I know you are a million times more brilliant than that and have something incredibly amazing planned which I am dying to find out about! so pms cuz I’m on the freaking edge of my seat here!

    4. What a ride! The drama in this story is always so intense. I’m glad Paula seems to be supporting the girls even tho’ she may be the potential cause of Spencer’s death. I’m assuming that there must be a loophole in this bizarre situation…? I’m also very curious to see Spencer’s reaction to the dreams.
