Reflections In The Rearview – (Chapter: Chapter 4 Part B)
Ashley Davies walked up the front steps of the Carlin residence completely unaware of the teenage girl who was having a panic attack upstairs in her room. Spencer, who was highly frustrated that she didn’t have time to shower was searching desperately for something cute to wear. I’m a girl! I should have had this all planned out last night and laid out on my bed.
Ding-dong. Spencer shrieked in panic. She heard a muffled “I’ll get it” come from downstairs and then directed her attention once again to her bed which was now covered in clothing. Something that says ‘you are more then welcome to rip the clothes right off me if you want but we are JUST friends not lesbian lovers if anyone asks’. Yeah Spence cause I’m sure a lot of shirts say that. She rolled her eyes at her own stupidity. After about 5 minutes she realized that this was ridiculous and Ashley had seen her at her worst so it shouldn’t matter what she wore. She finally settled on a Kelly green tank top and a denim skirt. It wasn’t anything stunning but it would have to do. Next time I’ll look drop dead gorgeous.. She made her way down the stairs and saw her father and Ashley sitting on the couch chatting. Ashley was laughing at something Mr. C had just said but stopped mid-laugh when she caught a glimpse of Spencer making her way down the stairs. Her jaw trembled a bit but she pretended as if nothing was going on.
“Spence” she said, standing up from the couch. “You just missed your dad telling me about the time when you went fishing on Lake Erie with your grandparents and you were on a mission to save the worms.” Spencer cringed at the childhood memory. She had ran all over the lake stealing everyone’s worms and releasing them into the tall grass by the cabin shouting at the top of her lungs “Wriggle wriggle away! You’re free!”
Spencer glared over at her dad playfully, “thanks dad” she said with a hint of sarcasm.
“Oh you are more then welcome Spencer” he said with a broad grin. He looked between the two girls and ever the intuitive parent decided to let the two be alone. “Well I’m gonna go whip up some milkshakes for the rest of the gang but you two have fun tonight”
