    Phoenix – (Chapter: True Affection?)

The two preteens lounged around the dark pink room. It was night outside, the moon was out, and only a small desk lamp lit up a portion of the room, the rest shadows. Music played in the background, the radio set on a hit station. The small blonde sat on the full sized bed watching her older friend nervously.

Ashley sat in the corner farthest away from the light in a big, red, bean bag. It was a birthday present from Ashley and her Dad when she turned 10 last year. Twice her size and fun to jump in, it was by far her favorite present. “Do you want to go outside and jump?” She asked her silent friend thumbing through one of her many teen magazines.

Brown eyes looked up from the magazine. She crossed her fingers hoping Ashley would want to jump on the trampoline instead of looking through the magazines. Her mother bought all the new ones, including the ones reporting Raife’s death. “Isn’t this a great picture of him?” She asked holding up the cover. The blonde’s stomach turned. It was a picture of his open casket. “I guess we’re lucky it was a drug overdose and not a car accident.”

Spencer got off the bed and sat next to her friend on the bean bag. She took her hand and held it tight. “Please stop. I know it hurts and I don’t want you to hurt anymore. I don’t want you to ever hurt again.”

Ashley threw the magazine aside and stood up, releasing her hand. Spencer watched her move to the closet, she opened it. “I want to live in your closet, Spenny.” She walked inside disappearing from her view. Spencer got up and followed her inside. It was a walk in closet, everything was neatly arranged, leaving plenty of room for both girls. “I’ll live in here and protect you from everything bad. We can be neighbors!”

“You’re silly.” The brunette looked at her, hurt. Spencer grabbed her hand and led her out of the closet. “I want you to live in here with me.” She smiled brightly. “My bed will be our bed and we’ll share everything! You’re too good for the closet, Ash.”

“Are you sure about that?” Ashley placed her hand on her waist and pulled her closer. Spencer stared curiously at her as she raised their linked hands up. Their arms stuck out to the right, the little blonde placed her free hand on her friend’s shoulder. “I’m positive.” She’d seen the position many times before in Disney movies. The ballroom waltz her father called it.

    1. I always read your updates twice becuase they’re just so damn good. I’m with SoNFANFOREVER, it’s the emotions that are drawing me in. I feel so sorry for Ashley and for Spencer too as they are both in a very difficult situation. I’m hoping for some lighter moments ahead but I’m sure whatever happens it will be of the same high calibre as this.

    2. soo good, i feel really bad for spencer. i have a close..friend.. that is involved with drugs and its really hard because you don’t know how to help them or if they even want help :S so i can relate to spencer. anyways keep up the awesome posts!

    3. I just read the whole story yesterday and I love it. I like that it is dark but I just hope that in the end Spencer would be able to help Ashley and that they will be together. PMS.

    4. I would just like to say that personally my favorite stories are the darker and more emotionally charged ones. that being said, wow this chap was just mind blowing. I feel so badly for ash with everything that has happened and that’s still happening. hopefully spence will eventually be able to get her out of glen’s grasp and then she may be able to start the healing process. fantastic job, pms please!
