Chapter Six

Ashley’s P.O.V.

The elevator door finally opened after being stuck on the elevator for several hours with Spencer who admitted that she loved me. I never got an ‘I love you’ from my own mother or my sister. Aiden and Kyla were on the other side of the elevator door with Mr. Thompson. Spencer went towards Aiden and Kyla to hug them. They looked at Spencer like she had grown five heads.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. The apocalypse must have been coming for them not to be fighting over some stupid high school drama that no one really gave a damn about. Maybe that was why they dumped their crap on Spencer all the time. “Together and not arguing?” This day was strange and it was getting even stranger by the second.

“I have basketball practice and Kyla had practice for the drama club,” explained Aiden. I didn’t believe the explanation in one bit, but it was their problem, but not mine. “We were trying to get help.” It was about time they realized they needed help or maybe it was to help us.

“I could ask you two the same thing,” Kyla said teasingly. I was trying hard not to roll my eyes. Was she implying that Spencer and I were together? She had to be joking of the idea of Spencer and me as a couple. “You two would make a cute couple. Spencer and Ashley sitting…” I was going to choke Kyla at this point if she wasn’t going to shut up about the idea of Spencer and I getting together since that wasn’t going to happen. This was one of the reasons I liked the fact that Kyla was so self-centered. Her presence really irritated me.

“Don’t start with me,” I growled. Kyla looked surprised at my reaction. “Do you think I would honestly fall for a girl like her?” Kyla and Aiden looked at Spencer expecting her to defend herself or even snap at me, but she did neither. Hell, if someone else pulled the same stunt I would’ve torn their eyes out by now, but that was the difference between Spencer and me. She was a level headed girl and was usually able to control her temper tantrums. I didn’t understand the girl sometimes. That’s what I kind of liked about her.
