“I just can’t believe you would do that.” I sling my bag over my shoulder and walk out, without any further protest from her.
Having no place else to go, I resort to spending the night at my mother’s house. I tiptoe through the long hallways and enormous rooms, because if she happens to be sleeping somewhere, I don’t want to wake her up. Waking her would undoubtedly bring questions and in my broken state, I might even answer them.
Arriving safely at my door without an interaction with mother, I step inside cautiously. Clicking on the light, I let go of the breath I didn’t realize I have been holding. Unlike everything else that now seemed unfamiliar, my room has remained unchanged. Even lacking the touches of love that would make it feel like home, the fact that it does not appear different sends relief coursing through my body. I drop my bag to the floor, pace over to the bed and sit on the edge before laying back.
Staring at the ceiling, the only sounds I hear are those of Danielle’s voice repeating in my head. “She has the right to know too….” Her disappointment last night, her phone call, her words to Spencer, her words to me; they are consuming my mind, playing over and over non-stop. With each flashback to the look on her face when I said I wouldn’t call, and to the replay of the conversation we had earlier, it becomes evident that she really did do it to help me. If I had called Spencer this morning like I told myself I would, none of this would have happened. Sitting back up, I come to the conclusion that like usual, it is my fault, but this time I am going to make things right.
Pulling the phone from my pocket, I flip through the phonebook and find her name. A sick nervous feeling forms in the pit of my stomach as I trace over the number displayed on the screen. My reactions are uncontrollable: my pulse quickens and my heart seems to have ventured into my throat, making breathing very difficult. With closed eyes, I convince my quivering fingers to press the button. My eyes fly open when I hear ringing sooner than I have anticipated. Putting the phone to my ear, I try desperately to remove the lump in my throat which will most certainly prevent words, but the effort is wasted.

ahh! i love this! i’m so glad ashley finally called spencer, hopefully there will be more interaction with them! i cant believe danielle is leaving…hopefully she’ll come back! i hope you post soon! this story is definetly a favorite :)

AShley needs to fix everything! With Danielle and with Spencer. It sure aint going to be worth it if she loses DAnielle as a roommate. She was the smart trying to get Ashley to do the right thing. post more soon.

Good gods, Ash needs a dose of “GET THE HELL OVER IT ALREADY!” Sheesh… Dani was being a good friend, she should’ve packed Ash’s things and moved her the hell out! I hope Spencer is happy, because I’m starting to believe that until Ash gets over herself, she doesn’t deserve to be with anyone… except her own self-pity… But lovely writing!

I don’t think Ashley can take much more. Every time she convinces herself that things are better, something else bad happens. She needs to do some massive soul searching and then go out and fix all her broken relationships. The ball is definitely in HER court. As always, I love your story!!!! You ROCK!!

This is great!! I’m sooo glad Ashely finally called Spencer, although it wasn’t a very productive conversation…it was a start!! She needs to fix things with Danielle…poor girl has been through more than she needs to with that girl! She must REALLY be upset with Ash, cause I live in a dorm and room changes DO NOT come that easily! lol…great job like always and can’t wait for your next post!

she made the call. woot! though i have to say i’m sad to see danielle go, i don’t think the whole room change thing was necessary – hmm…though i guess that cos ash’s rock is gone, she’ll have to figure out how to act on her own. all in all, nice update!
