About an hour and a half and 4 more drinks later I noticed Spencer on the opposite side of the couch starting to get more relaxed and yawning somewhere around every 5 minutes. The alcohol and work day were clearly taking their effect on her. I had 3 same amount of drinks but was well awake thanks to my nap in the afternoon.
“Hey,” I nudged her arm with my elbow as she began to doze off. She smiled and yawned.
“Hey…I’m sorry. I had plenty of sleep last night. I don’t know what the deal is.”
“It’s perfectly fine. Let me go grab you a blanket so if you doze off you’ll at least be comfy.”
“No, you don’t have to. I’m sorry.”
“It’s no problem. I’m cold anyway. I’ll be right back.” I hopped off the couch and dashed off to my bedroom, pulled the duvet off my bed and tossed it onto the couch in the middle. Spencer pulled it up over her and I sat a little closer to the middle than my respective end of the couch. Had to keep warm right?
It wasn’t long before Spencer was asleep. I knew she had fallen asleep when her body had leaned against me and her head was rest on my arm. I continued watching the movie, trying not to focus on Spencer’s hand that was on my knee.
“Ash…” I heard whispered.
What?
Did I hear that right?
I looked over at Spencer whose eyes were sealed tight, clearly still asleep. I shook it off, not knowing what the deal was but she was probably just having a dream.
