Good With You – (Chapter: Bicycle)
I immediately began reconsidering this college thing as soon as I stepped out of my car. I was not your typical college freshman by any means. For starters, I was 21, three years older than my peers. I would not be heading to any dorms after class and I certainly would not be headed to any dining halls for dinner. The main thing that sets me apart is that my father is famous. My father, Raife Davies, is the lead guitarist and singer for Purple Venom, a revamped 80’s hair band. He also is the owner of Edge Records, the record label that his band is on. So how did I end up at Blackinger University, a private university in Northwest California?
I was never the go-to-school-get-good-grades type. It wasn’t that I was stupid; I just wasn’t interested in the normal everyday high school life of typical high school students. At King High I did everything I could to avoid normal student activities, including class. I was more interested in hanging around the beach or my home or the recording studio…basically anywhere but school. In fact, the only reason I got to graduate high school was because my father pulled some strings with the principal to where he would play at prom in exchange for my diploma since my poor attendance could not obtain it. The only thing I liked about King is that I wasn’t known as Raife Davies daughter. There were plenty of daughters and sons of other moderately wealthy people that attended King so I easily blended into the background (which subsequently is why I chose this small town and small school to attend college). I had a boyfriend at King, which was a relationship of convenience, with Aiden who was basically my best friend. We dated off and on throughout high school for him to seem more cool than he actually was and for me not to have to be bothered with other stupid guys trying to hit on me. In all honesty, I wasn’t all that interested in any guys at King and I couldn’t really picture myself being with any guy; or anyone to be perfectly honest. I was content in my own little world.
