Ashley, walked through the hallways of Long Beach Memorial. Making her way towards a familiar destination. It was Saturday, her only day off from community service, and like every other Saturday for the past two months she intented to spend every second of it in that God forsaken hospital, as long as she spent it in room 119….With Spencer. Rounding the corner, guitar case in hand, she came upon an unfamiliar sight. Spencer’s room door, which was notorious for always being open was closed. She looked up at the room number just to be sure she was standing in front of the correct room, and there in clear black writing were the numbers 1-1-9. Although it was odd, she dismissed the matter and knocked on the door.

          "Come in."

Ashley was surprised to hear a man’s voice coming from the other side of the door. However she was even more surprised at what she saw when she entered the room. A lump caught in her throat, her stomach began twisting into knots, as she saw Spencer’s fragile body lying there, tubes snaking in and out of her body. Dropping her guitar case, she leaned onto the wall no longer trusting her legs to support her. There was suddenly a dark mist fogging her vision, and she felt the room grow darker. Suddenly she felt strong hands grasp her shoulders..

"ASHLEY, ASHLEY!!!!, " someone was screaming at her " ARE YOU OKAY!!!"

Ashley’s eyes tried to focus on the older man in front of her. She allowed him to lead her to a nearby chair. The man helped her get seated, then kneeled in front of her before speaking.

          " Ashley are you alright?"

His voice was soothing. She looked into his eyes and nodded before shifting her gaze back to Spencer, she looked pale, almost as if she were a different person. The girl laying on Spencer’s bed looked nothing like the Spencer she knew, the Spencer who’s smile lit up a room and who was so full of life and energy. No, her Spencer wouldn’t be lying in her bed on a beautiful Saturday morning, she would be up walking through the halls, rambling to Ashley about the latest celebrity hookups and thinking of ways to " break out" of the hospital. The girl who lay in front of her was broken and fragile, and yet she was still beautiful.
