A week later

Spencer was finally getting the chance to walk around her house! Today I start to learn ASL… Spencer thought. I haven’t talked to Ashley since like, 7^th grade! We stopped being friends after I found out that she was gay and HAD a crush on me. And now I’m kinda being forced to be with her every day for 2hrs to learn a new language before school starts! “My life sucks!!” Spencer yelled. She started pacing in her room and she heard the doorbell ring. She’s here, great…. Spencer thought to herself. She heard Glen open the door so she started walking down the stairs to see Ashley. Glen was blocking Spencer’s view when she walked down the stairs so she had no idea what Ashley looked like now. Spencer realized that she hadn’t known that Ashley even went to King high.

Glen stepped out of the way when he noticed Spencer. Spencer couldn’t believe it, Ashley looked amazing! “Hey Spencer! How have you been?” Ashley asked as she stuck out her hand towards Spencer. Spencer stuck out her hand and shook Ashley’s. “I’ve been better, how are you?” Spencer asked Ashley. “I’m good, just tired.” Ashley answered. They stood there in awkward silence for a couple of moments. Glen was the first to speak up. “Well, nice to see you again Ashley. I’ll leave you guys to start learning!” Glen said as he turned to walk away. Spencer was still amazed at how hot Ashley looked now.

Wait what am I thinking?! Spencer thought to herself. I LIKE GUYS NOT GIRLS!! She yelled inside her head. “Soooooo, let’s go in here and you can start helping me!” Spencer suggested to Ashley. Ashley just nodded and Spencer lead the way to the dining room.

2 hours later

“And there you go! That’s the alphabet and how you fingerspell different things.” Ashley exclaimed with joy. Spencer smiled at Ashley’s smile and Ashley smiled back. Her smile is SO cute!!!!!! Spencer thought. I wonder if she’s still gay or not. “So I’ve wanted to ask you something. Are you still gay?” Spencer asked Ashley nervously. Ashley’s smile left her face and she looked away. “Why would you ask me that? You should remember from middle school. Nothing has changed.” Ashley replied.

Spencer didn’t know how to respond. Before she got a chance to, Mr. and Mrs. Carlin walked into the room. “Hey you guys! How did Spencer’s  first day go Ashley?” Mr.Carlin asked Ashley. Ashley finally looked up and looked right past Spencer. “It went great!” She said with a sad look on her face.
