    Meet the girlfriend.

    “Come on Ms. Davies, couldn’t you give us a little hint?”  My problem soon dissipated.  Everyone now stared at me and then back at the woman staring intently in my eyes.  I smiled and cocked my head a little.  “Spencer.”  Her saying my name made me go crazy.  “Hey Ash.  It’s been a while.”

    “Yeah. It has huh?”  She smiled and then excused herself from the group taking my hand and leading me to a small room.  This must be her dressing room for the night.

     

    “Ash, your show was amazing.”  I had to break the silence somehow.

     

    “I can’t believe you’re here.” She looks at me and I looked at her and smiled.

     

     “I’ve tried to get to you earlier but you’re a hard girl to get in touch with.”  I chuckle and look up at her.  I feel so awkward but there is a sense of peacefulness with her that I just can’t get out of my head.

     

    “Earlier?  Spence how long have you been…”

     

    “A little over two years Ash.”  I know what she was going to say.  I see it in her eyes.

     

    “But the letters, you could’ve just come and I…I would’ve…” she starts to cry.  My heart is breaking.

     

    “Yeah, funny thing about the letters.”  I look at her.  “My mom is a total bitch.”

     

    “You have got to be kidding me!” Ashley almost yelled it through her tears.  I didn’t know what to do, so much of me wanted to hug her, kiss her and make her feel better but my feet were planted.  I see her wipe the saline from her face.  I had to say something.  The silence had overtaken us.  I was planning on telling her everything I felt, but for some reason my mouth couldn’t form my mind’s words.  I just decide to put off my feelings for a while longer and break the silence with a casual conversation starter.

     

    “So, I saw Kyla and Aiden the other day…”  Her eyes widen.

     

    “Shit!  I forgot they were coming tonight.”  I see her get up.  “Wait here Spence.”  She jets out the door and I just assume that she’s going to go get her sister and brother in law.  So here I am sitting in her dressing room.  It has taken me so long to get here and I have never felt so lost.  I look around waiting for Ashley to return.  I hear the door open minutes later, expecting to see Ashley with Kyla and Aiden in tow, but to my surprise there was a tall dirty blond staring back at me.
