I look at her. “Why? Ashley is the only friend I want.”
She looks a little angry. “Spencer girls your age have more than just one friend. I want you to have more than one, too. Instead of Ashley you can invite someone else to sleep over.”
I throw my fork down and stand up. “I don’t want other girls to sleep over!”
“Spencer sit down.” She looks serious, really serious, so I sit down and wait to be punished. “Spencer there’s a new family at church and they have a little girl around your age. I invited her to sleep over this weekend and before you ask no Ashley cannot sleepover too.” I cross my arms over my chest and shake my head no. “Just give her a chance. She’s really really sweet.”
I look at her and then back at my pancakes. “Fine. But Ashley has to like her too or she can’t be my friend.”
“Fine.” Mom says but she doesn’t look too happy.
“Can I go see Ashley now? I’m finished eating.” She nods her head and I’m out the door in seconds.
The phone in the kitchen rings and I debate whether to pick it up or not. After the third ring I get up and walk into the kitchen. I highly doubt Ashley would care if I answer her phone or not. But then again the Ashley I knew and this Ashley are two different people. I put that out of my mind and grabbed her cordless, pushing the talk button; I bring it up to my ear. “Hello?” I answer casually.
“It’s me.”
I’m relieved to hear Ashley’s voice and let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. “Hey, how’s work going?”
“Could be better but I do have some good news….um..well I think it’s good news.” She doesn’t sound so sure of herself and it blows my mind. Ashley was hardly ever shy or nervous in high school. “I get off in an hour and I was wondering if you needed anything.”
“I have everything I need Ashley.” I answer honestly. “Thank you, though.”
“No problem. I’ll see you later, Okay?”
“Okay.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
I hang up the phone and just sort of throw it aside. I look around her living room and wonder what the hell am I doing here? Ashley and I are not the same people we were as kids. In fact, we live two different lifestyles. I’m about to Marry the man that I love while Ashley sleeps around with different women. I sigh because I’m not totally sure if she’s still like that or not. From what Aiden has told me, she is, but I don’t see that in Ashley. She’s too beautiful and sweet to be like that.
I get up and walk back into the kitchen. I open the fridge and look inside. There are a lot of vegetables and different salsas and snacks. I looked at the clock on the stove and decided to fix her something to eat. If she’s anything like her twin, then she’s starving after work, and loves pasta. I open one of her cabinets, in search of some tomatoes sauce, and frown when I see a couple of pill bottles. I study both of them for a long period of time not really believing what I was seeing. My vision blurs as tears fill my eyes and I drop the bottles and bury my face in my hands. Ashley has cancer.

no fucking way…holy shit…that made my heart sink…omfg that really upsets me..WHY must u do this!!!!!!! season 3 is 1 day away like im not emotional enogh. sry im just wierd well im goin to watch the real world…(how come no gay grlz are on dat)
WHAT?! ASHLEY HAS CANCER!? wow i knew something was up but i never expected this.anyways,i think its cute how ash and spencer were so cute and innocent at the age of like,what 10? hey,ya know what wood be funny? if the girl paula invited over was gay.and them she tryed to make a move a spencer but then paula walked in when they were about to kiss or something. LOL that wood be a big shock for paula now wouldnt it? LOL,cant wait for more! PMS PMS PMS!!!!!!
