Cheer – (Chapter: The Pep Rally)
The thoughts of Rachel, completely random and unsupervised
Ashley Davies is a title with potential to be synonymous with the most virtuous intentions. A name can make or break the person. For instance, what person that has achieved great fame possessed a name that escapes your memory? I can’t think of any right now… Er, anyway, my point was that a name is possibly the most important part of a person. Ashley Davies, mother must have planned on it because the name usually makes the man, they say. Oh, no, that doesn’t seem proper to say, but I seem to be repeating myself.
Back on my winding train of thought, let me just say that when I hear a name like Ashley I think of pleasant preppy things.
“That Ashley Davies is such a nice girl.”
“That Ashley, I hear she is so good to her mother.”
“Ashley, she does volunteer work on the weekend and is planning on attending an Ivy League college in the fall. Her parents must be so proud.”
Could be that, yes, but the Ashley Davies that I knew personally, she was a bit different.
“Go fuck yourself jerk off.”
Really, that Ashley Davies is such a bitch.
I looked over to see Ashley with an anger twisted face into a pretty sort of grimace that did not look exactly sinister, but more of the comical overreaction of an annoyed little girl. Her (oh so eloquent) voice that you heard a moment before telling off some unfortunate kid that had decided to sit next to her had drawn my attention and brought on this current train of thought.
In all my years of knowing of her, not once in that entire time have I ever believed she was a good and kind person except when I heard her name initially and then was grossly disappointed. Maybe the name does not really make the person. An Ashley could be a cheerleader, a volunteer, or a president of the student council. None of those applied to Davies. In her case, an Ashley could be sarcastic, mean, apathetic and extremely antisocial and hostile.
Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed that about her.
