Ashley rang the door bell to see the friendly face of Mr. Carlin.

“Hey Ashley it’s nice to see you.”  The young brunette smiled. She always liked Mr. C because he was never judgmental of her. He was one of her favorite Carlins including Clay. Ashley frowned at the thought of Clay. Even though he was never really blood related she knew Spencer loved her brother very much and it was such a tragedy to lose such a great guy. However, the frown was easily removed at the voice of her blonde girlfriend.

“Hey you” The blonde walked over to Ashley placing her arms around her neck.

“Hey yourself, you ready?” She asked placing a quick kiss on Spencer’s lips.

“Yea let me just—“

“Uh Spencer where do you think you’re going?” Paula Carlin asked her daughter after coming from the kitchen. “Ashley” The older blonde said with a look of deceit in her eyes. Spencer removed her arms from Ashley’s neck.

“Mrs. Carlin” Ashley replied with a nod.

“Uh mom Ashley and I are just going to the pier for awhile. You know just to hang out”

“I really don’t think that’s a good idea Spence, it’s a Saturday you have mass tomorrow.” Paula once again looked at Ashley who was now looking down avoiding her glare.

“But it’s only 5:30. I’ll be back on time I promise.”Spencer looked at her father with pleading eyes.

“I think it’s a great idea, the pier sounds great Spencer. Of course you can go.” You could always count on Arthur Carlin.

“Ok Spencer you can go” Paula said as Ashley lifted her head with a smile that went unnoticed. “But only if your father and I go with you”

“What” Both Spencer and her father said with disbelief.

“It will be a fun night. We can hang out with you and Ashley. Maybe even catch a movie.” Mrs. Carlin explained.

“Fine Come” Spencer mumbled with a hint of disappointment.

“Great let me go call Glen and ask if he wants to meet us there” With that she left the room.

Ashley didn’t know what just happened in front of her. The evening had started off with her wanting to take Spencer out. Never did she expect the whole Carlin clan to tag along.

“Sorry honey I know you just wanted it to be you and Ash tonight. How about I make it up to you, if it’s okay with you Ashley can Spence sleep over. As long as you have her home for mass it will be great” Arthur looked at the young brunette

“Sure it’s okay Mr. C, I would love to” Ashley’s eyes brightened up and she smirked at Spencer.

“You would love to what Ashley?” Mrs. C asked as she made her way back into the living room.

“Nothing Paula” Arthur said quickly winking at Ashley. “Now if everyone’s ready lets go “And with that all four of them made their way to their vehicles to meet Glen at the Santa Monica Pier.
