"Fine!" said Spencer and making an about-turn took off back the way they’d come.
Frustrated beyond words, Ashley threw her bag down and let out a yell, emptying her of all her pain and anger, she felt about ready to cry. It was as if someone up there had heard her, there was a crack and lightning pierced the evening sky.

Looking up at the dark clouds above her she grabbed her bag and headed for the clearing not to far ahead now. She had just arrived when the heavens opened and it began to pour. Quickly she stuffed the food back in the bag next to the table. And folded up the stools.
She was wrestling with the fold-up picnic table when she heard thunder for a second time. She wondered where Spencer was, she knew from her time at Scouts that being in a wood during a thunderstorm was not a good idea. Looking round, half expecting to see Spencer stood at the edge of the clearing.
She wasn’t there. She tried shouting, but she couldn’t hear herself above the sound of the rain.

And then she saw her. Stood a little way into the clearing, staring at the table, and the mess she’d made trying to put everything away.
Ashley turned and watched the taller girl as she slowly walked towards the table, noting the candles on the floor. Another crack of thunder jolted her out of her thoughts.
Grinning, she looked up to Ashley, both of them completely drenched. She noted that she could see Ashley’s nipples poking out from the slick, wet t-shirt she was wearing. Glancing down, she saw her’s were in the same state.

Ashley, seeing Spencer bow her head, and thinking it was a sign of Spencer being overwhelmed, took a step towards the taller girl, intending to comfort her. Spencer looked up and pulled Ashley towards her, crushing their bodies together, she could feel Ashley’s nipples against her body and it turned her on.
The thunder roared again and it made her even hotter.

Ashley was loving the contact with Spencer, but worried about the thunder she leaned towards Spencer, her mouth hovering near Spencer’s for a moment, then she yelled in her ear "we’re not safe here, let’s go".

Looking up towards the tops of the trees Spencer remembered all the warnings in Science about the danger of trees in thunderstorms.
