    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 9-Unexplainable Consequences)

    A Vampire’s Lament
    Chapter 9: Unexplainable Consequences

Being on the run isn’t as easy as it sounds. Well, if that statement wasn’t obvious enough, there’s just a hell of a lot of work to do while you’re running away from something you don’t understand.

I wish I could say that I could laugh at danger and break all the rules at the same time but when countless lives are in the hands of a continuously hormonal immortal teenager, you kind of force yourself to accept an overwhelming amount of responsibility.

I guess I always knew that undead creatures like myself are permanently condemned no matter how much trouble we avoid, there will always be consequences. Unfortunately, this consequence is endangering the lives of the entire vampire community and a girl whom I’m falling for is an uneducated mortal that was forcefully put into this situation.

The urges to commit suicide endlessly flow through my mind as though an infinite ocean existed within my own body. Yeah, offing myself would be freaking impossible unless I buttered myself up and laid butt naked on the ground underneath the powerful heat of the sun.

"Ashley Davies…" A soft voice whispered into the silence that enveloped me. I snap back to reality and instead of seeing a vast white emptiness before me, there was a long empty road before my eyes. My hands were gripping the steering wheel and I could hear the torturous beating of my own black heart.

Getting lost into my own imagination, I had nearly forgotten I was driving Judith and Odette’s black Ford Explorer.

"What is it, Ky?" I ask with such dullness controlling my voice. My sister Kyla was sitting with crossed legs in the back, where Aiden had laid his head on her lap and slept peacefully. She was such a tender being, so comforting and so sweet…

"Even though I’ve said this so many times in the past, I love you. I love you so much that it brings me foreign pain to read your thoughts of suffering. What is so appealing about killing one self anyway?" She asks, ignoring my desire to drop the conversation immediately.

She derived our original mother’s annoying persistence so I have to open myself up at an inappropriate time. "Kyla, are you not aware of the events that are currently taking place? I’m confused as fuck because I don’t want to participate in this unknown war now since we’re risking all that we’ve ever worked for!" I snapped at her defensively.
